About 1,500 candidates preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Terchire and surrounding communities in the Ahafo Region have been sensitised on career guidance and the dangers of examination malpractice.
The initiative was organised by the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for the Tanoso Circuit, Veronica Kumi Yeboah, as part of efforts to promote academic integrity and guide students in making informed career choices.
Speaking to Adom News, Madam Kumi Yeboah explained that the programme, dubbed the “Career Fair,” has been running for the past four years and has contributed significantly to reducing examination malpractice among candidates.
She noted that the event brings together resource persons who educate students on the importance of taking their studies seriously and writing their examinations with honesty to secure a better future.
According to her, the initiative also helps candidates gain a clearer understanding of subject selection and career pathways at the Senior High School level.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) Director for Tano North Municipality, Stephen Tia Adams, commended the initiative, stating that the directorate has intensified efforts to curb examination malpractice.
He expressed appreciation to the SISO for organising the programme and supporting candidates in their academic journey.
Mr Adams also praised the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Gideon Boako, for providing mathematical sets to support candidates ahead of their examinations.
