Delays in government payments to the Kumasi Compost and Recycling Plant (KCARP) are threatening sanitation operations in Ghana, a top waste management executive has warned.

Ing. Eugene Amo-Asamoah, Business Development Manager for KCARP, stressed the need for adequate and sustainable funding for waste management in an exclusive interview with Adom News.

He said Ghana, especially its second capital city, Kumasi, should not be facing a waste and sanitation crisis because it hosts the largest compost and recycling plant in Africa.

However, he said financial distress is now hampering operations.

He warned that delays in government payments to the solid waste treatment facility are threatening sanitation operations in Ghana.
