The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Emmanuel Raggan Fynn, has urged parents to counsel their children to desist from examination malpractice as they prepare for the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

According to him, instilling discipline and integrity in children at an early stage is crucial to shaping responsible and competent future leaders. He cautioned that failure to address examination malpractice now could have serious consequences for the nation in the years ahead.

“If our children are not guided to avoid examination malpractice and they grow up with such habits, they may become corrupt and irresponsible leaders, which will put the nation in a difficult position,” he stated.

Mr. Fynn emphasized that examination malpractice should not be tolerated and called for it to be treated as a criminal offence within the education system to encourage students to take their studies seriously.

He made these remarks in an interview with Adom News after donating 350 mathematical sets to BECE candidates in the Asokwa and Oforikrom municipalities as part of his birthday celebration.

He further advised candidates to stay focused on their studies and avoid distractions, particularly social media, during the examination period.

“Students who are preparing for the examination must do away with social media and concentrate on their studies in order to excel,” he advised.

Mr. Fynn also appealed to parents to support their children by providing the necessary learning materials to enhance their performance.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Oforikrom, Ahmed Anwel Sadat, disclosed that measures have been put in place to curb examination malpractice in the municipality.

“This year, I am determined to record zero cases of examination malpractice in the municipality. We have implemented effective measures that will ensure discipline without intimidating students,” he said.

Beneficiaries of the donation expressed their profound gratitude to the NSA Regional Director for his timely intervention and pledged to abstain from examination malpractice in the upcoming BECE.
