The National Service Authority has announced plans to begin strict enforcement against companies that employ individuals who have not completed their mandatory national service.
Speaking on Badwam on Adom TV, Deputy Director Fuseini Donkor said the directive comes from the Director-General and applies to both private and public sector institutions.
According to him, the Authority is currently undertaking stakeholder engagements to caution employers and give them the opportunity to regularise affected staff before enforcement begins.
He explained that companies that have already employed individuals who have not undertaken national service can formally notify the Authority.
In such cases, if the employee is below 40 years, the Authority can repost the individual to the same organisation to complete their service while continuing to work.
However, he noted that persons aged 40 and above may apply for exemption.
Fuseini Donkor further warned that working in the private sector does not exempt individuals from the requirement, stressing that national service clearance becomes crucial when seeking public sector appointments in the future.
He emphasized that the upcoming enforcement exercise will ensure compliance and uphold the integrity of the national service system.
