Candidates and teachers are welcoming a new directive aimed at easing the stress associated with Senior High School placement.

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has announced that, as part of efforts to reduce pressure during the placement process, candidates will be given a one-week window to review and adjust their school choices after the release of BECE results by WAEC.

With the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) fast approaching, Adom News visited selected schools to gauge reactions to the new policy.

At Mackristy Academy in the Lomnava Block Factory area, candidates were busily engaged in their sixth mock examination, a clear sign of their preparation for the upcoming national exams.

Many students expressed confidence and readiness ahead of the BECE.

Speaking to Adom News, the candidates also shared their excitement about the revised school selection process.

According to them, having access to their results before making final school choices will give them better insight and a greater chance to select preferred schools based on their actual performance, helping to avoid the placement challenges often experienced.

Teachers at the school echoed similar sentiments, describing the new system as a positive step toward a more transparent and less stressful placement process.

The Headmaster of Mackristy Academy emphasized the role of parents, urging them to encourage their wards to focus on their studies and approach the examinations with confidence, rather than relying on any form of external assistance.

Overall, the new directive is being seen as a timely intervention that could significantly improve the experience for candidates transitioning into senior high school.
