The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee has handed Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Mohamed Camara a five-match suspension and a GHS 20,000 fine following a series of misconduct charges.
The sanctions stem from Kotoko’s Matchday 25 defeat to Karela United FC at the Tamale Sports Stadium on March 8, 2026.
According to the official GFA verdict released on April 21, Camara was found guilty of unsporting behaviour and physically assaulting the match referee after the final whistle.
In addition to the five-game ban, which takes immediate effect, Camara must pay the GHS 20,000 fine within 14 days or face further disciplinary action. The committee also issued a stern warning to the player regarding his future conduct on the pitch.
Asante Kotoko’s Welfare Officer, Amos Frimpong, was also handed a 10-match ban and fined GHS 20,000 by the Disciplinary Committee for unsporting behaviour towards match officials.
The Porcupine Warriors will now have to navigate a crucial phase of the season without Camara, with Hamza Obeng set to take charge for the remainder of the campaign following Prince Yaw Owusu’s resignation.
