Viktoria Plzeň forward Prince Adu Kwabena says earning a spot in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup would rank among the defining moments of his career.

The 22-year-old, who received his maiden Black Stars call-up during friendly matches against Japan and South Korea in November 2025, has since featured in recent international warm-up games against Austria and Germany, starting both fixtures.

Kwabena has been in impressive form at club level, scoring eight goals across all competitions for Viktoria Plzeň this season, a run that has strengthened his case for a permanent place in the national team setup.

Speaking to JoySports in an exclusive interview, he described the World Cup dream as a major motivation.

“It will be a great opportunity for me, and I will be so excited,” he told JoySports.

“[World Cup] is not a small thing; not every player gets a chance to play [at the competition].

“It would be one of the biggest achievements in my career. I am going to focus on my club form and keep working hard to get on the list,” he added.

Kwabena’s international future will, however, be shaped under new management after Otto Addo, who first handed him a call-up, was replaced by Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz ahead of the tournament.

Queiroz now has until June 1 to finalise his squad for the expanded 48-team World Cup.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
