Music collaborations often come from shared vision, but sometimes they begin with admiration and genuine connection.
For rising artist Richie Rhymes, his collaboration with fellow musician Th3rd on the single “The Weekend” represents more than just a song. It is the fulfillment of a long-held dream.
Richie Rhymes first connected with Th3rd on Instagram in 2022. What started as a simple online interaction quickly grew into admiration for both the artist and the person behind the music. According to Richie, Th3rd’s personality and the way he interacted with him made a strong impression.

“He was the coolest guy ever,” Richie recalls. “His interactions were the reason I became a fan, and he has remained my favourite artist.”
Richie Rhymes had always hoped to collaborate with Th3rd, but he knew the song had to be right. When the instrumental for “The Weekend” was created, everything seemed to fall into place. The moment Richie heard the beat, inspiration struck instantly.
“The hook came to me immediately and it was catchy,” he explains. “I had wanted to feature Th3rd for a long time, but I knew the song had to be the right one.”
Despite believing strongly in the record, Richie admits he was nervous about sending the song to the artist he admired. After sharing the track with Th3rd, the wait for a response felt incredibly long.
“Those days were very stressful,” Richie says. “So you can imagine my excitement when he finally told me he loved the song.”
Once Th3rd approved the record, work on the collaboration moved quickly. He recorded his vocals and sent them over, turning the idea into a complete track. For Richie Rhymes, simply having the song finished already felt like a major achievement.
The team soon began planning the music video, determined to match the song with high-quality visuals. They went all out to create a strong production, with Th3rd taking his time to capture the best scenes and send the raw footage for the final edit.
Th3rd also played an important role in promoting the song. He consistently shared the track across his social media pages and even mentioned Richie Rhymes during one of his livestreams, helping the song reach a wider audience.
When “The Weekend” was finally released, Richie Rhymes described it as “the greatest thing I’ve ever done,” a statement he still stands by today.
“I’m incredibly proud of The Weekend,” he says. “Not everyone gets the chance to collaborate with their favourite artist.”
For Richie Rhymes, the collaboration is both a proud moment and the beginning of what he hopes will be many more musical projects with Th3rd in the future.
