The Minister of Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding access to safe and affordable housing following a working visit to key development projects in Tema.

The tour, which took place on Wednesday, March 15, 2026, saw the minister inspect several ongoing initiatives led by the Tema Development Corporation (TDC).

Among them was the construction of 920 housing units at Kpone Community 26, a major project expected to significantly boost housing availability in the area.

He also visited the redevelopment of the Kaiser Flats at Tema Community 4, where 240 modern two-bedroom apartments are currently under construction. The project forms part of a broader effort to replace aging infrastructure with safer, more resilient residential facilities.

Another key stop on the tour was the construction of a new event centre at the old TDC head office, a project aimed at creating a modern space for social and corporate functions within the Tema enclave.

Speaking after the inspections, Mr. Adjei commended the TDC for the steady progress and quality of work across all sites. He described the projects as critical interventions in addressing Ghana’s housing deficit while also improving living standards.

The Minister called on the working class to take advantage of the approximately 800 affordable housing units expected to be completed by the end of the year, urging Ghanaians to patronise the initiative as part of efforts to make decent housing more accessible.

Beyond expanding supply, he emphasised the importance of maintaining high safety standards in construction, noting that government remains focused not only on quantity but also on the durability and integrity of buildings.
