The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced a downward adjustment in utility tariffs for the second quarter of 2026.

In a statement, the Commission said electricity tariffs will be reduced by 4.81 percent, while water tariffs will decrease by 3.06 percent. The new rates are set to take effect from April 1, 2026.

According to PURC, the review is part of its mandate to conduct periodic tariff adjustments that reflect changes in the operational environment of utility service providers.

The Commission explained that its quarterly tariff review mechanism enables it to monitor and incorporate shifts in key variables that influence the cost of providing electricity and water services.

These variables, the Commission noted, often fluctuate over short periods and can affect the financial and operational performance of utility service providers across the country.

The latest review, therefore, reflects changes observed within the quarter while ensuring that tariffs remain responsive to developments affecting the utilities sector.
