The President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has held talks with the Black Queens to reassure the squad amid rising tensions in parts of the Middle East.
The senior women’s national team is currently in the United Arab Emirates competing in the Pink Ladies Cup, a preparatory tournament ahead of the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Their presence in the region has prompted concerns back home, but the FA says it is closely monitoring developments.
In a statement, the association said it has maintained steady communication over the past 24 to 48 hours with key stakeholders, including Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and security advisers, to evaluate the situation and determine any necessary measures.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Kofi Adams, Minister of Sports and Recreation, have both reached out to the team, assuring the players and technical staff of the government’s full support.
The FA has urged the public to remain calm and said it will issue further updates should circumstances change.
On the pitch, the Queens are preparing for their second fixture of the tournament against Russia, buoyed by a commanding 4-0 victory over Hong Kong in their opening match on Saturday.
