Lance Corporal Morris Addae, an operative with the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) task force, has fully recovered after sustaining a gunshot injury during an anti-galamsey operation earlier this year.

In a statement on Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources said officials visited him to check on his progress.

During the visit, L/Cpl Addae expressed gratitude to the sector minister, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the leadership of NAIMOS, and all who offered prayers and support during his recovery.

The visiting team was led by NAIMOS Director of Operations, Colonel Dominic Buah, who praised the officer’s bravery and commitment to duty while wishing him continued good health.

NAIMOS reaffirmed its determination to continue routine operations, in line with the broader government agenda to curb illegal mining nationwide.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a NAIMOS team conducting operations along the Subinkurom–Kyeremasu road in the Dormaa Central Municipality. L/Cpl Addae was hit in the thigh during the exchange.

He was immediately transported to St. Matthew Catholic Hospital
