Ghana defender Kojo Oppong Peprah has revealed that conversations with Black Stars teammate Alexander Djiku played a key role in his decision to join Turkish Super League giants Fenerbahçe.
The 22-year-old has completed a €12 million transfer from French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, signing a four-year contract with the Istanbul-based club.
Speaking at his unveiling, Peprah said the positive feedback he received from Djiku, who spent two seasons at Fenerbahçe before joining Russian club Spartak Moscow, helped convince him to make the move.
“I spoke with Alexander Djiku. Hearing nice things from someone who played here had an impact on my transfer,” Peprah said.
Peprah arrives in Turkey after spending the 2025-26 campaign with Nice and is expected to strengthen Fenerbahçe’s defensive options ahead of the new season.
The centre-back also featured for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making two appearances during the tournament.
One of his standout moments came in the Black Stars’ goalless draw against England, where he produced a vital headed clearance to preserve the result.
Peprah becomes the latest Ghanaian to represent Fenerbahçe, following in the footsteps of Stephen Appiah, Sam Johnson, Andre Ayew and Djiku.
