The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has directed the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to investigate growing public concerns that prepaid electricity credit is allegedly depleting faster than usual.

In a post shared on X, the Ministry’s spokesperson, Richmond Rockson, acknowledged the volume of complaints from customers across the country and said the matter is being treated with urgency.

He disclosed that the sector Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has ordered a formal investigation into the issue.

“The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has taken notice of these complaints and has directed ECG to investigate and provide a report to him within seven days for further action,” he wrote.

The outcome of the probe is expected to guide the Ministry’s next steps as authorities seek to address consumer concerns and ensure transparency in power billing.
