The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has launched an investigation into suspected corruption involving the diversion of 50 twenty-foot containers of palm oil valued at GH¢25.8 million.
In a statement dated February 24, 2026, the OSP disclosed that the consignment, declared as goods in transit to Burkina Faso, was unlawfully redirected onto the local market without the payment of required duties and taxes.
Preliminary findings suggest the involvement of some Customs officers, National Security operatives, and clearing agents in what the Office described as a corrupt scheme.
The alleged diversion is estimated to have caused a tax loss of GH¢10.5 million to the state.
The investigation, the statement noted, was triggered by an intelligence-led operation carried out in November 2025.
The OSP emphasized that inquiries are ongoing and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public funds and promoting integrity in public administration.
