President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, visited survivors of the recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso at the 37 Military Hospital.

The victims were among a group of Ghanaian tomato traders traveling in a truck when armed attackers ambushed them. Reports indicate that the assailants forced the men to line up, shot them, and set the vehicle ablaze in a brutal assault that has shocked the nation.

Accompanied by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, the President interacted with the survivors and expressed his condolences over the tragic incident. He assured them that the government would cover the full cost of their medical treatment and provide all necessary support for their recovery.

President Mahama, who had earlier conducted an official assignment in Takoradi, went directly to the hospital upon arriving in Accra to receive first-hand briefings and personally commiserate with the victims.

Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have been laid to rest.

The injured survivors were airlifted back to Ghana by the Ghana Armed Forces and are now receiving medical care and counselling, with authorities closely monitoring their condition.
