Spanish coach Jose Daniel Martinez Alfonso has joined the Black Stars’ technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Currently an assistant coach and video analyst at MLS side Atlanta United FC, Martinez Alfonso will focus on scouting, match preparation, and performance analysis during the tournament.

His appointment is part of a broader effort to strengthen Ghana’s technical staff as the team prepares for its fifth World Cup appearance.

Martinez Alfonso will work closely with head coach Otto Addo and the rest of the technical team, offering detailed insights to shape tactical plans and ensure player readiness.

The Black Stars will regroup in March for international friendlies against Austria and Germany as part of their World Cup build-up.

Drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia, Ghana will be looking to advance beyond the group stage, having exited at that stage in both the 2014 and 2022 tournaments.
