The Lead Advocate of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning, has described President John Mahama’s decision to mark one year in office with a non-denominational thanksgiving service as “beautiful,” but insists that true gratitude to God must be reflected in a decisive action on the LGBTQ+ bill.
Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Foh-Amoaning said thanksgiving should go beyond ceremonies.
“The thanksgiving service was beautiful, but the biggest thanks you can give to the Lord Jesus Christ is obedience, not sacrifice. And obedience, in this case, means doing the right thing by passing the law against LGBTQ+,” he said.
He cautioned religious leaders and the public against what he described as self-deception on the issue.
“We should not deceive ourselves about this LGBTQ+ matter. The Bible is clear that obedience is better than sacrifice,” he stressed.
Mr. Foh-Amoaning recalled that during the 2024 election campaign, President Mahama made commitments regarding the LGBTQ+ issue and urged him to honour those promises.
“During the elections, the President promised to push this issue, so they should push it and do the right thing,” he said.
He further argued that Ghana should have voted against the renewal of the international LGBTQ+ mandate, claiming that the electorate rejected the previous Akufo-Addo administration’s decision to abstain from such votes.
“Ghanaians voted against leaders who always decide for the people behind closed doors, throw dust into our eyes, and end up destroying the nation,” he stated.
According to him, ordinary citizens bear the brunt of such decisions.
“When these things happen, it is Ghanaians who suffer the most. If God dislikes such acts, then we must also be bold and speak against them,” Foh-Amoaning added.
