Sudan head coach Kwesi Appiah is confident his team can advance from their group in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Since taking the reins of the Falcons of Jediane, Appiah has guided the squad through a notable transformation, fostering discipline, belief, and renewed ambition.

As Sudan prepare to face Algeria in their opening match at Stade Moulay Hassan today, the focus is on making an impact and setting a new benchmark in the nation’s football history.

In an interview with CAFOnline, Appiah discussed his team’s aspirations and the determination driving his players as they kick off their tournament campaign.

“Sudan is well prepared for the competition, and we hope to present ourselves in the best possible way during the finals,” he said.

Reflecting on their group, which includes Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso, Appiah added, “It’s a strong group, but Sudan is also a good team, and I am confident that we will progress beyond the group stage in this tournament.”

The Falcons arrive at AFCON off the back of their participation in the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar.
