A small-scale miner from Anyinam, Collins Agyabreh, has pledged to collaborate with the Atiwa East District Assembly taskforce to combat illegal mining activities, particularly those affecting the Birim River.
Mr. Agyabreh expressed his strong commitment to working closely with the taskforce to protect the environment and promote responsible mining practices.
The Birim River, a vital water source for residents in the area, has come under serious threat from illegal mining operations. Mr. Agyabreh’s resolve to support the taskforce is therefore seen as a positive step toward restoring and preserving the river’s ecosystem.
His collaboration with the taskforce is expected to help identify and remove illegal miners whose activities are degrading the environment and threatening the livelihoods of legitimate miners.
The joint effort between Mr. Agyabreh and the District Assembly taskforce is projected to yield long-term benefits for the community by promoting sustainable mining practices and safeguarding natural resources. It also highlights the importance of community participation in addressing environmental challenges.
Mr. Agyabreh’s initiative has sent a strong signal to illegal miners operating in the district. He is urging fellow miners to join him in promoting responsible mining for the collective good of the community.
The public is also being encouraged to support the campaign by reporting any illegal mining activities to the appropriate authorities.
