Aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe in the Ashanti Region, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, has called on politicians to place national development above personal ambition.
The former Minister for Education emphasised that politics should serve as a platform to transform lives and communities, rather than an avenue for selfish enrichment.
Speaking during an interaction with party delegates in the Ashanti Region, Dr Adutwum highlighted the need for a renewed sense of purpose among political leaders.
“Politics should not be about what we can get for ourselves, but what we can do for our people. When we see politics as a tool for transformation, we will build a stronger, more prosperous Ghana,” he said.
Widely recognised for his contributions to Ghana’s education reforms, Dr Adutwum stated that transformational leadership requires integrity, vision, and a deep commitment to service. He noted that Ghana’s development trajectory could only improve if leaders adopted a selfless mindset.
“If we lead with humility and integrity, the citizens will trust us. Our goal must always be to improve education, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life for every Ghanaian,” he added.
The Bosomtwe legislator further appealed to delegates and citizens to support leaders who embody honesty and accountability. He stressed that the NPP’s vision for progress can only be realised when the party elects leaders driven by service and sacrifice.
“Our nation needs leaders who will inspire hope, not those who seek power for personal gain,” Dr Adutwum said, reaffirming his commitment to lead with purpose and transform Ghana through visionary governance.
