The Jaman North District Assembly, in partnership with the Ghana Police Service, is set to embark on a major motorbike enforcement exercise in Sampa and surrounding communities to address growing security concerns tied to the ongoing chieftaincy dispute in the area.
In a public statement signed by the District Chief Executive, George Adane, the operation has become necessary following intelligence reports suggesting that unregistered motorbikes and unidentified riders are being used to incite violence, transport weapons, and disturb public order.
According to the statement, the security agencies have been granted full authority to arrest, detain, and prosecute offenders without delay.
Individuals apprehended will be arraigned within two hours, while impounded motorbikes will be sent to the Bono Regional Police Headquarters in Sunyani for further investigations.
The enforcement exercise will target motorbikes without valid registration or number plates, riders without proper identification such as a Ghana Card or Voter ID, and those found carrying more than one passenger. Offenders will face immediate arrest and prosecution.
The Assembly urged residents and motorbike users to comply fully with the directives, stressing that the initiative is purely a security measure aimed at maintaining peace, protecting lives, and restoring calm in Sampa and the wider Jaman North District.
“The Assembly and security agencies will deal decisively with anyone found engaging in acts that threaten the peace and stability of the area. No individual or group will be allowed to destabilize Sampa under the guise of chieftaincy matters,” the statement cautioned.
The public has been encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement officers and to promptly report any suspicious gatherings or activities to the nearest police station.
