IMAGO DEI Bible Quiz to inspire faith, learning, and unity among Catholic Children in Accra

The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra, in partnership with the Accra Archdiocesan Catholic Youth Council and the Pontifical Society of the Holy Missionary Childhood, is set to launch the IMAGO DEI Bible Quiz.

Scheduled to run from September 14 to December 28, 2025, the competition will gather children from 28 parishes across seven deaneries under the theme: “Empowering the Missionary Children with the Word of God.”

Produced by The Cocktail with media support from Lumen Christi TV, Catholic Trends, and DEPSOCOM, the quiz is designed as a celebration of scripture, doctrine, teamwork, and spiritual growth.

The contest will unfold in three rounds:

  • Round 1: The Old Covenant

  • Round 2: The New Covenant

  • Round 3: Catholic Dogma and Doctrine

A team of four children will represent each parish, where three main contestants and one substitute, drawn from the seven deaneries: Mamprobi, Tema, Osu, Battor-Ada, Kaneshie, Kpehe, and Ashaiman.

Speaking ahead of the event, Rev. Father Elvis Mensah said preparations are complete and expectations are high:

“We are looking forward to an exciting contest. The prize package adds to the anticipation, with every child eager to reach the ultimate goal of lifting the trophy. The contest will not only test biblical knowledge but also sharpen minds, boost confidence, and deepen the faith of the children. This year’s quiz promises to be as thrilling as the NSMQ.”

The prizes include championship trophies, flat-screen TVs, tablets, books, Jerusalem Bibles, rosaries, and special services at the winning parish.

For participating children, the experience goes far beyond competition. Contestants from St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ashaiman, expressed excitement about revisiting the Gospels and Acts, noting how the scriptures provide guidance and strength for daily life.

Many shared that preparing for the quiz has built their discipline, teamwork, and confidence in sharing God’s word.

Parish animators from St. Augustine also highlighted the critical role of community support:

“The parish community encourages, prays for, and motivates the children. This environment not only helps them prepare but also nurtures their personal relationship with God. It’s not just about winning—it’s about growing closer to Him as a family and community.”

As the countdown continues, the trophy tour is already making rounds across the deaneries, stirring excitement and anticipation for what promises to be a remarkable season of faith, fellowship, and learning.
