Mohammed Kudus can be a real asset if… – Former Spurs manager Glenn Hoddle

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Glenn Hoddle says Mohammed Kudus could become a major asset for the club, provided he works on keeping his head up while dribbling.

The Ghana international, who joined the North London club earlier this summer, impressed during Spurs’ Super Cup clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday at the Bluenergy Stadium.

Kudus was a constant threat to the French champions before being substituted in the 79th minute.

Tottenham had raced into a 2-0 lead, but PSG fought back to level the match and eventually triumphed 4-3 in a penalty shootout to claim the trophy.

Kudus, 25, created the most chances (three) and completed the most dribbles (two) of any Spurs player on the night.

“He’s got such good talent, such quick feet, and you can see his qualities there. The added ingredient for him as a player is consistency,” Hoddle said on TNT Sports.

“A lot of my West Ham fans, and I have quite a lot, have said to me, ‘Thank you for taking him, Glenn.’ So I don’t know about that. The first year, I thought he was excellent. The second year, they’re telling me he didn’t do so well. But he looks like he’s got a lot of potential, I’ve got to say.

“Sometimes, I look at dribblers and I like what they do, but can they dribble and play with their head up? That is the key for me. Can he also play with his head up? That’s the next progression for him. And I think if he does, he could be a real asset for Tottenham,” he added.

Kudus joined Spurs from West Ham this summer in a €63.8 million move after two seasons at the London Stadium. He is expected to make his Premier League debut for the club against Burnley this weekend.
