Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, has assured that the club will prepare thoroughly for their upcoming 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Drawn against Nigerian side Kwara United in the preliminary round, Kotoko will host the first leg between September 19 and 21, before travelling to Nigeria for the return leg scheduled from September 26 to 28.
Speaking to Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show ahead of the fixtures, Sarfo Duku emphasized the importance of meticulous preparation and warned against underestimating their opponents.
“Playing in Africa is like going to war, so you must be prepared to face any side. On paper, you might think it’s a done deal for Asante Kotoko, but it is not so,” he said.
“If you look at Kwara United, coming from a football country, and having earned a spot in the Confederation Cup, it means they have invested well, so you cannot overlook them.”
Duku further stressed the club’s focus on securing progression before setting sights on bigger challenges.
“It is up to Asante Kotoko to ensure adequate preparation to avoid any embarrassment. We must focus on Kwara United and qualify for the next round before thinking about playing Wydad in the second round,” he added.
The winner of this preliminary tie will face Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the next round.
Currently, Asante Kotoko are in Cape Coast for the second phase of their pre-season preparations and are set to compete in the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament in Accra later this month.
