President John Mahama has led a wreath-laying ceremony at Jubilee House in honour of the eight people who perished in the military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The event, which formed part of the official three-day national mourning period, took place at the Ceremonial Garden in front of the seat of government.

In attendance were family members, high-ranking government officials, military officers, and members of the public, who paid their respects in an atmosphere marked by reverence and reflection.

Mourners could not control their tears as the wreaths were laid, accompanied by emotional tributes.

Among those remembered were the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; NDC Vice Chairman and former Kumasi Mayor, Dr. Samuel Sarpong; and former Obuasi East parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye.

The rest were three personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The three-day national mourning will be climaxed with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials” on Saturday, August 9, at the Forecourt of the State House.
