Bawku conflict: Curfew imposed on Nalerigu and surrounding areas

The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas in the North East Region, effective Sunday, July 27, 2025.

An official statement said the decision—based on advice from the North East Regional Security Council and enforced through an Executive Instrument—places curfew hours from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily until further notice.

The move is aimed at curbing escalating security tensions in the area and ensuring the safety of residents.

The government is urging residents to comply with the directive and to cooperate fully with security agencies working to restore calm.

Chiefs, elders, and opinion leaders have also been called upon to support efforts to bring lasting peace and stability to the community.
