Oforikrom Municipal assembly to utilize common fund in 8 key development priorities

The Oforikrom Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region has prioritized eight key development areas in the allocation of its share of the District Assembly Common Fund.

These include health infrastructure, educational infrastructure, water supply, environmental sanitation, school furniture, administration support, monitoring and evaluation, and completion of legacy projects.

Speaking at the first ordinary meeting of the second session of the third annual general assembly, Municipal Chief Executive, Awel Sadat Ahmed, pledged to utilize the funds effectively for the development of the area.

He noted that the decentralization of DACF will facilitate the implementation of developmental projects in Oforikrom.

Mr. Ahmed highlighted that the allocation would address challenges such as access to clean water and environmental sanitation in the municipality.

“We will use 10% of the fund allocated to water supply to address the challenge of accessing clean water in some parts of the municipality, where women and children had to travel long distances daily to fetch water,” he said.

He added that the 10% allocation to environmental sanitation will help procure sanitation equipment to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

The Oforikrom MCE urged the 15 assembly members to work together to develop the municipality.

Kenneth Owusu Bediako, the assembly member for Emena Boadi Appiadu electoral area, speaking on behalf of the assembly members, pledged their support for the MCE to develop local communities.
