Applicants seeking birth certificates from the Births and Deaths Registry have voiced frustration over delays caused by a shortage of the special security paper used in printing the documents.
Several affected individuals who spoke to Adom News said the delays are disrupting important plans, especially those related to processing travel documents. Many have been asked to return in about a month for their certificates.
They are appealing to the government to urgently address the situation to reduce the inconvenience.
Responding to the concerns, Deputy Registrar of Births and Deaths, Nicholas Osei Bonsu, attributed the delay to an administrative challenge but assured the public that the issue has been resolved.
“We have received supplies of the security paper and printing is currently underway. In about two weeks, applicants who requested birth certificates can follow up to collect them,” he said.
The Registry is urging the public to remain patient as they work to clear the backlog and restore normal service delivery.
