Sehwi Boinzan chief appointed GNFS Board Chairman

The Chief of Sehwi Boinzan and Kontihene of the Sehwi Wiawso Traditional Area, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, has been appointed as the Board Chairman of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

The appointment, which takes effect immediately, was announced in Accra and has sparked widespread celebration in the Western North Region—particularly in Sehwi Boinzan, where the chief is widely admired for his developmental vision and leadership.

Nana Ofori Ahenkan II is expected to bring his extensive experience in public service, community leadership, and security advocacy to bear in his new role. As Board Chairman, he will provide strategic oversight, steer policy direction, and support reforms to enhance the operational capacity of the GNFS.

Speaking after the announcement, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II expressed gratitude to the Minister for Defence for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to strengthen the Service.

“I see this appointment not just as a personal honour, but as a responsibility to serve the nation at a critical level. I look forward to supporting the hardworking men and women of the Fire Service and working with the government to improve infrastructure, response times, and public fire education,” he stated.
