WAFCON 2024: Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah confident ahead of must-win clash against Tanzania

Ghana forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has expressed strong confidence in the Black Queens ahead of their crucial final Group C encounter against Tanzania at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Black Queens currently sit at the bottom of Group C with just one point and face a must-win situation when they clash with Tanzania later today at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.

Ghana’s hopes of advancing to the Round of 16 not only hinge on securing victory but also on South Africa defeating Mali in the group’s other fixture.

Speaking ahead of the match, Chantelle emphasized the positive spirit within the squad.

“We still have the positivity, and we believe in ourselves. We’ve just got to go out and show it,” she said.

“I’m taking it in stride. I feel the confidence from my teammates and coaches. I’m trying to make myself, my family, and Ghana proud.”

She further described the high-stakes nature of the game as a privilege rather than a burden.

“We know how important this game is, and we know what it’s going to take. The pressure isn’t pressure; it’s a privilege.”

Kick-off for the decisive encounter is set for 19:00 GMT.
