Maestro Kojo Antwi’s late mother goes home on Saturday

The mortal remains of the mother of Ghanaian and African music legend, the Maestro Kojo Antwi, will be laid to rest on Saturday, July 11, 2025.

The Maestro’s beloved mother, Madam Mary Adwoa Nyamaa, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the Mpraeso General Hospital in the Eastern Region. She was 100 years old.

The final funeral rites will be held at the Presbyterian School at Obo-Kwahu in the Eastern Region.

The ceremony is expected to feature a rich blend of music in tribute to the memory of Madam Nyamaa—a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and above all, a God-fearing woman.

Kojo Antwi has acknowledged that his late mother was the inspiration behind his iconic song, “Bre Bre Anowaa,” featured on his 1996 To Mother Africa album.

He has 13 albums to his credit, with “Bre Bre Anowaa” being one of his most successful songs in Ghana and across Africa.

The Maestro also recorded two albums with his band, Classique Vibes.

Kojo Antwi, popularly known as “Mr. Music Man,” is the fourth of nine children born to Madam Nyamaa. Sadly, three of her children have passed on, leaving six surviving.
