I have known him since Ajax – Chelsea coach expresses admiration for Mohammed Kudus

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has spoken highly of Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus, intensifying rumours of a possible summer transfer to Stamford Bridge.

The 24-year-old West Ham United star has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, during the current transfer window.

Reports suggest Kudus could be on his way out of the London Stadium, just a year after joining from Dutch giants Ajax.

Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals, Maresca stopped short of confirming the Blues’ interest but made no secret of his admiration for the player.

“He’s a West Ham player, so I can’t say much. The only thing I can say is that I’ve known Kudus since his time at Ajax,” the Italian manager said.

Kudus joined West Ham in 2023 for a reported fee of £38 million.

The Hammers are reportedly demanding at least £60 million for any potential sale of the dynamic forward, who has scored 19 goals in 80 appearances since arriving in East London.
