Former Medeama SC forward Jonathan Sowah is determined to earn a recall to Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
Sowah, who began his career at Danbort FC, made his Black Stars debut in September 2023 in a friendly against Liberia under then-coach Chris Hughton.
He provided an assist as Ghana secured a 3-1 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium. However, since that appearance, the 25-year-old has not featured again for the national team.
Now playing for Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars, Sowah remains focused on reclaiming his spot despite recent setbacks.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, he said:
“I don’t believe there is any issue with why I’ve been out of the Black Stars.”
“There was a qualifier where I expected to be part of the squad, but I was left out. It affected me, but I remain committed to playing for the Black Stars, regardless of what has happened.”
“I am ready to compete to become the main striker for the Black Stars. I’m still knocking at the doors. I’m not giving up. I want to replicate what Asamoah Gyan has done for Ghana.”
In his debut season with Singida Black Stars, Sowah has impressed by scoring 13 goals in as many matches.
