Veteran Nigerian singer 2Face Idibia has issued a public apology following intense backlash over controversial remarks he made about men and sexual fidelity.
During a recent podcast appearance, the singer sparked outrage by claiming that men are “not built to be with one woman sexually.” He added that while a man can deeply love one woman, sexual exclusivity is unnatural and difficult for most men.
The comments went viral, drawing sharp criticism from fans, gender rights activists, and public figures who described the remarks as misogynistic, insensitive, and irresponsible, particularly from someone with such a large influence.
Responding to the backlash, 2Face took to social media to issue a heartfelt apology, admitting that he had “messed up” and was fully aware of the consequences.
“I know I messed up with what I said, and I know I’m going to get cancelled because of it. I know I’m going to pay a heavy price,” he wrote.
He extended his regret to his fans, his family, and most importantly, his wife, Natasha, for the embarrassment his words may have caused.
2Face clarified that his intention was to explain his understanding of male behaviour, but acknowledged that his expression was misguided and damaging.
“I said what I said because I wanted people to get my understanding. However, there’s no excuse for those comments. I take full responsibility for my words and I am sorry for disappointing the millions of people who look up to me,” he stated.
The singer’s apology has reignited debates around gender, fidelity, and public accountability, with many calling for more responsible commentary from influential voices in entertainment.
