59% of Ghanaians say their standard of living has improved under Mahama – Survey

President John Dramani Mahama

A new survey by Global InfoAnalytics has revealed that 59% of Ghanaians believe their standard of living has improved under the current Mahama-led administration.

According to the poll, only 12% of respondents said their standard of living had declined over the past year, while 25% reported no change. The remaining 11% did not express an opinion.

The survey was conducted online from May 10 to May 20, 2025, and gathered responses from 1,092 participants. It used a probability-based random sampling method and was conducted with a 99% confidence level and a margin of error of ±3.82%.

These findings reflect recent positive trends in Ghana’s economic environment.

Since the beginning of 2025, the Ghanaian Cedi has made significant gains against major international currencies—a development widely credited with reducing the cost of living in the import-dependent economy.

The appreciation of the currency has led to noticeable drops in the prices of imported goods, including electronics, pharmaceuticals, and fuel.

Inflation has also continued its downward trend, reaching 18.4% in May 2025—the lowest level since February 2022.

The survey results suggest that, despite past economic challenges, a growing number of Ghanaians are beginning to experience real improvements in their daily lives—signaling a gradual but tangible recovery at the household level.
