Kamaldeen Sulemana completes medicals ahead of Atalanta move

Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has finalized his transfer from English Championship club Southampton to Serie A side Atalanta.

The 23-year-old successfully passed his medical examination, and all contracts have been signed ahead of the official announcement.

Atalanta agreed to pay £18.3 million (€21.5 million) for the former Stade Rennais player, structured as an initial £15 million (€17.5 million) fee plus an additional £3.3 million (€4 million) in potential add-ons. Southampton have also secured a 15% sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Sulemana is set to sign a four-year contract with Atalanta, with an option to extend for a fifth year once all formalities are complete.

The move reunites Sulemana with former Southampton manager Ivan Juric, who had expressed strong interest in bringing him to Atalanta. The young winger is reportedly excited about the club’s project.

During the recently concluded 2024/25 season, Sulemana made 26 Premier League appearances for Southampton, scoring one goal.

However, Southampton struggled throughout the campaign, finishing last in the league with only 12 points from 38 matches.
