AAMUSTED decries infrastructure deficit, seeks support to increase admissions

The Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) has decried its infrastructural deficit, which the authority says has adversely affected capacity to admit more students.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Frederick Kwaku Sarfo, says the university received 20,280 applications for the 2025-2026 academic year, but matriculated 13,066 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Female students comprise 51% of enrolment.

Addressing the matriculation ceremony at the Kumasi campus, the Vice-Chancellor observed an increase in female enrollment, compared to last year.

He says with support from the government and other corporate interventions, the university can admit more to support TVET education.

“The university remains committed to adding to its resources annually to increase the number of admissions every year. We can assure you that the number will increase next year,” he said.

Prof Frederick Sarfo encouraged the students to apply for scholarships from the Ghana Education Trust Fund, the Scholarship Secretariat, local assemblies and other agencies to support the education.

He also urged them to take a positive attitude towards their studies and avoid procrastination.
