Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwesi Amoako-Atta has hinted that his ministry will blacklist any contractor found to have done shoddy work.

He said this is one stringent measures being deployed by the Roads and Highways Ministry to end poor work done by some contractors which serves Ghana no good.

Kwesi Amoako-Atta disclosed this in an interview with the media after inspecting some ongoing road projects within Tema.

According to him, contractors from Meridian Ports Services expanding the Tema motorway roundabout as part of the Tema port expansion are expected to complete work by August this year to allow free flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, Kwesi Amoako-Atta reiterated that the rebuilding of the Accra-Tema motorway is still on course with necessary procedures being followed.

“Rebuilding the motorway is no joke and the necessary procurement among other procedures could take more than six months and we must ensure that due diligence is done. We won’t rush,” he indicated.

Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Ports Services, Mohammed Samara has assured the Minister that the current expansion will be done to fit into the rebuilding of the Accra-Tema motorway.

The company is busily working on slip ways which will free up the congested roundabout.

The inspection team was made of the Minister, some officials of the ministry, engineers and members of parliament from Tema West and Central, Carlos Ahenkorah and Kofi Brako respectively.
