A 70-year-old woman, identified as Afua Kyere, has been found dead under mysterious circumstances at Akyem Koforidua Akura, a suburb of Akyem Akroso in the Asene-Manso-Akroso District of the Eastern Region.
The deceased, who was a member of the Church of Pentecost, reportedly went missing on Saturday, July 26, 2026, after leaving home to attend a church service.
According to information gathered by Adom News, she failed to return home after the service, prompting relatives and community members to launch a search.
Residents said her body was discovered on Monday morning under disturbing circumstances.
Some residents alleged that parts of her body had been removed before her body was abandoned. However, the police are yet to officially confirm the nature of her injuries or the claims made by residents.
The incident has thrown the community into a state of shock and fear, with residents calling on the police to conduct a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
Police have since been informed and have commenced investigations into the incident.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown, and no arrests have been made. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to assist with the ongoing investigation.
