The stage was set, the schools were ready and the University of Ghana auditorium came alive as PRESEC-Legon, Accra Academy and St Augustine’s College battled for the coveted 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) trophy.
From the tense moments before the contest to the intense competition on stage, anxious supporters, colourful school displays and the deafening celebrations that followed the final answer, the grand finale delivered plenty of memorable scenes.
PRESEC eventually emerged victorious with 40 points to claim their ninth NSMQ title, while Accra Academy finished second with 33 points in their historic maiden final appearance.
St Augustine’s College also put up a strong challenge in the closely contested finale.
The 2026 triumph takes PRESEC-Legon to a record ninth NSMQ title, extending its position as the competition’s most successful school.
