The atmosphere at the University of Ghana auditorium is electric as the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Grand Finale gets underway.

Supporters of the three finalists have already turned the venue into a sea of school colours, with loud cheers and chants ringing through the auditorium as the much-anticipated contest begins.

Jubilant supporters have been seen celebrating and rallying behind their respective schools, while the various school contingents have brought their energy to what promises to be a fiercely contested final.

Amid the excitement, teachers and supervisors remain keenly focused on proceedings, carefully following every question and response as the contest unfolds.

The finalists, meanwhile, appear tense and intensely focused as they settle into the competition, knowing that every answer could make the difference between victory and defeat.

Accra Academy is making history with its first appearance in an NSMQ grand finale and will be hoping to secure a maiden championship.

Standing in its way are two of the competition’s most experienced schools, eight-time champions PRESEC-Legon and two-time winners St. Augustine’s College.

The three schools are battling for the coveted 2026 NSMQ trophy in a thrilling conclusion to this year’s competition.
