In a night filled with glitz, glamour and styles, some deserving entertainers walked away with their heads high after beating stiff competition to clench awards.
For the 9th edition Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), and over 20 categories, some old faces reaffirmed their positions in the industry while a lot of new school also represented.
The night ended with Kunle Afolayan’s popular English-Yourba infused Netflix series, Aníkúlápó being the most awarded with 5 plaques out of 16 nominations.
Brotherhood movie also came through with four awards and Osas Ighodaro, for a second time running, was adjudged Best Actress.
This year’s coveted Industry Merit Award went to none other than veteran actress Patience Ozokwo alias Mama G. She received a standing ovation while she accepted her award amid tears.
Former Big Brother Nigeria housemates also made their mark and all three who were nominated – Tobi Bakre, Elozonam, Diane Russet clenched an award.
The prestigious event, which took place at the Eko Hotel, was to celebrate talents in the film world across Africa.
