14 people from the same family died on the spot when the Toyota Benz bus they were travelling in collided with an articulator.

According to reports, the deceased were returning from their grandmother’s funeral at Ekumfi Emuna in the Central region when the unfortunate incident occurred at Apam junction.

Adom News’ Kofi Adjei who visited the scene said the road is covered with blood after the collision.

Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that, a ford vehicle heading to Takoradi overtook the articulator trailer and in an attempt to prevent a head-on collision, the truck run into the Benz commercial vehicle with registration number GM 1129-15.

The two vehicles were said to have landed in a ditch killing 14 people including 12 women and 2 men when were heading to Kasoa.

Some distraught family members who spoke to Kofi Adjei expressed shock at the sudden demise of their brothers and sisters.

They explained that, the 14 decided to pick a different bus when the car there was no space in the car they sent to the funeral.

“We are very surprised because they took the lead when they was no space in our car only to hear they have been involved in an accident,” a family member said.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Winneba hospital morgue pending autopsy.
