Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo has paid an emotional tribute to late actress Beverly Afaglo, describing her as one of the people who played a significant role in his acting career.
In a social media post mourning the actress, Mr Dumelo recounted how he first met Beverly Afaglo nearly two decades ago on the set of the television series “About to Wed” in Dzorwulu.
According to him, the late actress helped shape his career and opened doors for him in the movie industry.
“About 20 years ago, I walked onto the set of ‘About to Wed’ in Dzorwulu. That’s when I met Beverly Afaglo, Prince David Osei, and Yvonne Okyere. We starred in one of the best TV series, and Bev brought out the best in me,” he wrote.
He further disclosed that Beverly Afaglo later connected him to a movie producer for a role that became a turning point in his career.
“Fast forward a year after, Bev calls and says, ‘John, call Salam, they need someone to play the role of a King.’ That’s how I got to star in the movie King is Mine, and the rest, they say, is history,” he stated.
Mr Dumelo expressed gratitude to the late actress for the support she gave him over the years.
“Thanks so much, Bev, for playing a significant role in my acting career. I am glad you are resting peacefully now,” he added.
The actor ended his tribute with an emotional message, highlighting the lasting impact Beverly Afaglo had on his life.
“One day when I decide to write a book, your name will fill pages,” he wrote.
Beverly Afaglo passed away in the early hours of Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema after battling cancer, according to her family and management.
