World Vision Ghana has donated Gift-in-Kind (GIK) relief items valued at more than 10,000 to over 6,200 vulnerable children, women and men in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti Region.
The donation, comprising assorted clothing, sandals and other essential items, is expected to ease the daily challenges faced by vulnerable families and improve their living conditions.
The beneficiaries include 2,085 girls, 1,753 boys, 1,441 women and 921 men across the municipality.
The support forms part of World Vision Ghana’s broader commitment to community development, poverty reduction and improving the wellbeing of vulnerable children and families.
Speaking to Adom News, Kete-Krachi Cluster Manager of World Vision Ghana, Augustine Nyaaba, said the intervention was aimed at addressing immediate needs while contributing to the long-term development of communities.
He explained that access to basic necessities such as clothing and footwear could have a significant impact on children’s education, particularly by improving their confidence and encouraging regular school attendance.
According to him, children who have decent clothing and footwear are more likely to feel comfortable and focused in school, helping them participate fully in learning.
Mr Nyaaba said although World Vision Ghana had consistently supported communities in the area with educational materials and other interventions, the latest donation was unique because it included brand-new clothing and sandals provided through the organisation’s partners in Canada.
He encouraged residents of Krachi West to continue working closely with World Vision Ghana and take advantage of interventions aimed at reducing vulnerability and improving livelihoods.
Some beneficiaries, including students and parents, expressed gratitude for the support, describing the donation as timely and impactful.
They said the items would help address the difficulties faced by children who sometimes go without adequate clothing and footwear, while also motivating them to remain in school.
The beneficiaries and community members appealed to other organisations, businesses and development partners to emulate World Vision Ghana’s initiative by supporting vulnerable families and contributing to the development of communities across the municipality.
