Member of Parliament for Abetifi in the Kwahu East district of the Eastern Region, Byran Acheampong said the Fulani herdsmen rearing will be completely ‘wiped out’ from the Eastern region.

Earlier reports indicated that six schools serving 15 communities in the Kwahu East district of the Eastern region had been closed down due to what residents say is the danger posed to them by the activities of Fulani herdsmen.

It added that. 1000 pupils including final year Junior High School (JHS) students have been forced to stay home.

According to the Minister of State at the office of the President-designate, the residents in the villages who are mostly farmers, have moved out of their homes due to the danger posed by the fulani herdsmen in the area.

“They’ve sacked the people from their homes. The river the residents drink has been abducted by cows. Their farms have been raided. The Fulanis fire warning shots during night hours. This is the terror they use against these people.” He told Okay FM.

As an IT and security expert, Byran Acheampong added that, the death rates recorded from severe conflicts between the farmers and the herdsmen are rampantly climbing up hence the government has started operations underway to deploy countless military and policemen to drastically wipe them out of the region.

“They killed 14 Kwahu people in 2016. This year they have killed three of them. If the government doesn’t go hard on them we won’t hear good news till the year ends…” he said.

“I have sat down with the security agencies to discuss the matter. Some 15 police men were deployed there before, but the numbers weren’t enough…,”

“The government is planning to deploy many police and soldiers there to allow the kids, teachers and parents attain their peace of mind. There are security investigations been carried out and soon we will wipe them out fully…” he confirmed.
