Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, Ernest Norgbey has accused security agencies in Ghana of not performing up to the expectations of the citizenry.
Mr Norgbey’s observation comes on the back of the minority in parliament’s press conference on Monday in which they complained about general insecurity in the country.

Speaking to Captain Smart on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show Tuesday, the MP for Ashiaman Constituency said the security agencies had failed Ghanaians.
“We cannot fathom the exact security challenges we are facing as a country. The security agencies are mandated to protect the citizenry but it seems they are not living up to the game and have failed to uphold their core values and mandate,” he observed.
He attributed security agencies’ inability to protect Ghanaians to lack of the appropriate logistics in the discharge of their duties.
He, however, noted that such lack of logistics shouldn’t deter them from doing what is expected of them.

“We are living in times of insecurity now that we rather have security coordinators, ministries and lots of committee on security, defence, and interior. It is true the police, especially, lack logistics but need to utilize the little they have effectively and also draw a plan and strategy for combating crimes,” he noted.
He, however, urged the police to be consistent in relaying information regarding the progress of investigations and also called on politicians to be responsible in their dealings with information.
