British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson’s admission to intensive care due to coronavirus has prompted an outpouring of well-wishes from world leaders.

The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is the latest of a number of world leaders to send good wishes to Mr Johnson, 55, who was admitted to a hospital in London on Monday night, after suffering persistent coronavirus symptoms, including a high temperature, for more than 10 days.

Wishing him speedy recovery on his social media page, Dr Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a tweet: “Thinking of my friend Boris Johnson tonight, and sending my and WHO’s heartfelt good wishes as he battles the coronavirus.

“I know the NHS and its dedicated health workers will be looking after you.”
