The Black Queens of Ghana arrived in the country after winning the maiden edition of the WAFU Zone B tournament in Ivory Coast.
The team, led by Executive Committee member Madam Leanier Addy, touched down at the Kotoka International Airport Sunday night to a rousing welcome by Ghanaian football fans.

Central defender Janet Egyir scored the only goal of the final game against Ivory Coast to ensure the Queens win the cup.
This is the second major trophy for the senior women’s team, having won the All Africa Games in 2015.

Aside the trophy, the Queens returned home with other honours as Egyir was adjudged the Best Player of the competition, while Captain Portia Boakye won the Top Scorer’s prize with four goals and three assists.
The team was met on arrival by Deputy Sports Minister, Pius Enam Hazide and is expected to visit the Flag Staff House to present the trophy to his Excellency the President, Nana Akufo Addo.
